2024 marked my first Swim Across the Bay and while I didn't set any records I finished!!! Thanks to my kayak escort Ed Tanner the current didn't take me down to Mt. Hope Bay. In 2025 a group of us formed TEAM NICK NADALIN in memory of Nick, a young man who always embraced a challenge be it on the slopes or on the ocean. Our group of swimmers and kayakers including some new additions have returned for Save the Bay's 50th swim to celebrate Nick's spirit and his love and passion for sailing on Narragansett Bay. Back in 1997 on August 2, my husband Bart Ferris and I had our wedding reception at the Officers Club over looking Narragansett Bay; I could not have predicted that some day I would be swimming across that large body of water to Jamestown. Back then I could barely complete a lap in a pool. I grew up swimming in the waters of Vineyard Sound off Falmouth Heights but I was not a strong swimmer. I was inspired in 2006 to improve and become more confident in the water. That first morning I went to the pool I had to get up in the dark and drive during a snow storm. I was determined to improve. None of us can predict what the future holds, let alone what the day can bring. For Team Nick Nadalin we know more than ever to embrace each day and not take it or the people you love for granted.
