I just did something that feels both exciting and a little wild: I registered for my first-ever Save The Bay Swim!
This year is the 50th anniversary of the swim — and I just turned 65 — so it felt like the perfect moment to say yes to something big, meaningful, and a little outside my comfort zone.
For years, Narragansett Bay has been part of my life: a place of beauty, restoration, community, and connection. Swimming across it feels like a way to honor all of that — and to support the work of Save The Bay, which has spent decades protecting and improving the waters we all love.
A group of us swim Rocky Point State Park and we created a team: the Rocky Point Tide Breakers! The name feels right for this chapter: strong, joyful, a little scrappy, and deeply connected to Rhode Island waters.
I’m swimming because clean water matters. Because the Bay matters. Because aging should include new adventures. And because I believe in supporting the people and organizations that protect the places that hold us.
I’d be so grateful for your support — whether that’s a donation, a cheer, or joining the team. Every gift helps Save The Bay continue its essential work protecting Narragansett Bay for all of us.
Here’s to 50 years of the Save The Bay Swim, 65 years of life, and one very grateful first-time swimmer.
