Aly's Save the Bay Swim Personal Page
TL;DR:
I’m swimming from Newport to Jamestown this summer for the 50th anniversary Save the Bay Swim. About 2 miles (if I swim straight) across Narragansett Bay to raise funds and awareness in support of Save The Bay's mission to protect and improve the Bay. If you’re able to donate, I’d greatly appreciate the support!

Growing up in the Ocean State, I spent much of my childhood in or around the water. Collecting shells, hunting for sea glass, kayaking, boating over to Block Island, surfing, lifeguarding, anything that got me outside and near the ocean.
I distinctly remember our middle school science field trip to a local river just behind my house. We learned about watersheds, pollution, and how important it is to protect our environment. I eventually went on to become an environmental engineer and a frequent Save the Bay volunteer. I’m also a local municipal engineer and have collaborated with Save the Bay on a number of projects in town to bring in their expertise and ensure our environment is protected.
Having volunteered at the Save the Bay swim for a number of summers now and always saying “I’ll swim it one day”, I’m finally jumping in for the 50th anniversary. I’ll be swimming about 2 miles across Narragansett Bay on August 8th and need your help to raise funds!
Each swimmer must raise $450 to participate and the funds go to Save The Bay, which supports advocacy, restoration, and education programs that keep Narragansett Bay clean and healthy. If you are able to, please consider donating!
Thank you for your support,
Aly Sparks
