Help Grace Swim the Narragansett Bay!
My open water adventures began at Potter’s Cove in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The water is only a few feet deep there, and my biggest fear was a crab leaping from the ocean floor to pinch my arm. This August, I will leave these safe shores and swim two miles across the Narragansett Bay to Newport, Rhode Island, in the annual Save the Bay Swim.
You might be worrying: “What if she drowns and I donated to make this happen.” Have no fear. For the past two years, I have been diligently lap swimming 4 times a week in the crowded pools of New York. I'm training with such vigor, I don't even notice swimmers coming directly at me (see image).
And if you remain concerned, take peace in knowing that Abraham will be forced to kayak next to me if I cannot swim two miles in under an hour by July 13. And if Abraham wimps out, then my mom will do it (so it will likely be my mom).
All of your generous donations go toward cleaning up the Narragansett bay, a critical estuary that has suffered years of industrial pollution.
Thank you!
