Swimming across the Bay....again!
I am eagerly anticipating July 17, when we will be back at the Naval War College for our traditional swim route across the Bay to Jamestown. It will be great to be back in the beautiful blue-green water of Narragansett Bay. While our virtual event last year was fun, there's no substitute for paddling across the East Passage, in the shadow of the Pell Bridge, and rounding Taylor Point for the finish.
This year will be my 16th trip doing the Swim in the span of 20 years. Each one has its own character: rough water, smooth water, biting crab larvae, schools of menhaden, crack of dawn starts, eddies and tides.... And the chance to see old friends once again sharing the experience and adventure.
This year is particularly meaningful to be back in the water after such a challenging year for everyone. Save The Bay has had to adapt and find create ways to fulfill its advocacy and education mission, while dealing with financial headwinds.
I always appreciate the encouragement of friends and family in years past when I have trained to complete the Swim, and this year I hope you will again consider making a contribution to Save The Bay in support of my efforts. Every dollar counts!
