Back in the water.....

August 6th, the date of this year's Swim Across the Bay, is just around the corner. Happily, I'm back in the water, training for my 17th Swim from the Naval War College in Newport to Potter Cove in Jamestown. It will be great to be back in the beautiful, deep, blue-green sea of Narragansett Bay. Last year a thick fog bank forced STB to cancel the Swim and the pandemic shut us down in 2020. So this year's Swim will be the first in three years!
This will be my 17th Swim over the span of the last 21 years. Each swim has its own character: rough water, smooth water, biting crab larvae, schools of menhaden, crack of dawn starts, eddies and tides.... And the chance to see old friends once again sharing the experience.
Not being a speedy swimmer, I always appreciate the encouragement and generosity of friends and family when I train to Swim Across the Bay. The dollars you contribute make a crucial difference in sustaining STB's efforts to protect Narragansett Bay, so I hope you will consider making a contribution in any amount this year to support this great organization. Every dollar counts. And wish me luck!
With appreciation,
Jonathan
