A different Save the Bay event this year
Hello Friends,
Ride Complete!!
8/30 - 25.07 miles in just under 1 hour 45 minutes (1:44:46 to be exact). It was a cool day for a ride and bike path was smooth, safe and not very crowded. Thank you everyone for your support :)
***Training update**
8/8 - 1st longer bike ride (<5 miles) - 10.9 miles in 49.5 minutes - I remember being hot!
8/14 - 16.3 miles in 1 hr 12 minutes. Seemed a bit cooler today but still got lots of sun :)
8/26 - another 16.3 miles in 1 hr 7 minutes. A bit faster but still need to get the full 25 done in one ride. Was hoping to get to a bike path this weekend to a safer (and flatter!) route but appears the weather may not co-operate.
_______________________________________________________________
2020 has been quite the year so far. It came as no surprise that the annual swim had to be cancelled. Since this is a major fundraiser for Save the Bay, they turned it into a virtual event this year.
Unfortunately, with the pandemic protocols in effect since early spring, I have not been able to do my usual pool training. So instead of swimming, I have decided to complete a 25 mile bike ride. No, I haven't done much riding either - just a lot of walking - so I am hoping to drag Lloyd in as a companion rider/pace setter for me.
A huge thanks to my family and friends for their support over the last 22 years. Now more than ever, I hope we all appreciate being able to safely enjoy the beautiful waters of Narragansett Bay. Please consider making a donation to Save the Bay and sponsor my ride.
Don't forget to check out the Save the Bay web site www.savebay.org to see all that they do.
Thanks,
Colleen
