Love Narragansett Bay with Me!
Hi Friends and Family,
I'm really excited about running into the water on August 4th and helping to raise awareness about the importance of Narragansett Bay and its ecosystem. Even though I LOVE TO SWIM this is just my first time doing the Save the Bay Swim.
One of my personal goals is trying to be more hopeful (rather than cynical and critical) about the many problems this world faces, and this is one small (and fun!) step in what I think is the right direction.
I've been inspired by my sister, Maria, who has always showed me how to pursue the joys of fresh air through swimming, cycling and running (she's an amazing runner, among other things). Maria is the reason I first came to the Biggest Little, so I'm especially looking forward to her return, as she swims, like a salmon, back home.
If you live in Rhode Island you've likely been nourished by the ocean, bay and its seemingly infinite estuaries. Whether you flush the toilet, run the sink, surf, swim, lounge, photograph, walk, breath, or drink in Rhode Island, there’s a good chance you’re connected to the Bay. While Narragansett Bay may not be your raison d' etre, water is what lets us and our fellow creatures live and thrive.
Part of the project is to raise $400, and I've already contributed $50. If you can't give anything I understand. But if you're inspired I'll happily take even five cents, and be grateful just to see your name, as a kindred spirit in this endeavor.
Thanks, and take care,
