Welcome to Dana's Personal Page
Thank you for arriving here!
Save the Bay is an organization truly present and creating positive change in Rhode Island, and Rhode Island waterways. They have been there for me, sending representatives to help protect at risk watershed in my neighborhood. Your contribution is tax deductible.
From Save The Bay’s website: http://www.savebay.org/history
“Save The Bay was founded in 1970 on the community’s desire to protect our most precious resource - Narragansett Bay. To do that, Save The Bay has focused on the development of a committed constituency for the Bay. Children and adults throughout this region have learned the tremendous value the Bay brings to our economy, our environment, and our quality of life.
In defense of Narragansett Bay and its watershed, Save The Bay has watched over the activities and programs of the government and the citizenry that degrade the environmental quality of the Bay, basin, and watershed. We provide educational opportunities for children and adults to explore the Bay, fostering an understanding and a sense of personal responsibility for the resource.
Our history is one of accomplishment for the Bay. Once choked by raw sewage and dying a slow death from industrial toxins, the Bay is now making a strong comeback. There is still room for improvement, but more people than ever before are able to swim, fish, sail, and enjoy the waters of Narragansett Bay.”
My personal story: Water makes me happy, clean water even happier! Swimming makes me happy! I am tickled silly that I signed up to swim this year. It is a HUGE milestone for me. I joined the group Swim RI last year, finding them supportive and encouraging.
Many of you know that in 2009 I was checked out by a tractor trailer truck. I did not see that this day could be here where I am not only swimming again, but swimming something big, and am able to feel it! I am full of joy, gratitude and courage for this day! Every stroke, I say thank you, in respect for the great ocean and the gift to swim in it.
