Let's Give Thanks for The Ocean State
I first moved to Rhode Island in the fall of 2017, knowing next to nothing about the area but excited to be taking a job in the health and wellness industry at Virgin Pulse. I'm a lifelong athlete. I specialized in track during my collegiate career, but swimming was my first love. Throughout my youth, I swam year round on age group teams, often swimming several miles in a day. Along the way, I got to know what the bottom of a pool looks like, perhaps a little too well. Fast forward to my first summer in Rhode Island: I discovered its opportunities for open water swimming in the beautiful Narragansett Bay and I was hooked. The Bay helped me fall back in love with swimming and grew my love for this tiny state. Throughout the summers, I meet up twice per week with a swim group and soak up an hour or so of time in the bay. Throughout the winters, I think longingly of it and count down the days until the water will warm up again.
I am thrilled to be participating in my first Save The Bay Swim and helping Save The Bay raise money towards its vital work to keep the Bay clean. Please consider donating to support their awesome work and to help me reach my fundraising goal!
Finally, I want to give a shout out to the East Side Y team and more specifically to Stuart, who so graciously befriended me, invited me to join the group, and organizes our twice a week swims from Barrington Beach. I'm proud to be part of the team for this year's Swim!
