SHUTTLES AND PARKING

PARKING & SHUTTLES: 5:00 AM TO 7:15 AM
All participants will park at the former Newport Grande, 150 Admiral Kalbfus Rd, Newport, RI 02840. Please follow instructions of volunteers with flags.

Drivers with kayaks entering the Navy Base through the gate MUST be a participant. No outside drivers will be allowed through the gate to drop participants and kayaks off unless they have been pre-approved on the all-access list.

THERE WILL BE NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED ON THE NAVY BASE. SPECTATORS WILL PARK IN JAMESTOWN, TPG Boat Yard (formerly Conanicut Boat Yard) 260 Conanicus Avenue

Swimmers may be dropped off at the Newport Grande (NOT THE NAVY BASE) by a spectator, but spectators must return to park at The Conanicut Marine Boat Yard in Jamestown. 
 
-- Please follow instructions of volunteers with flags. Turn left right before the Jamestown Police Station. NO PARKING AT THE POLICE STATION.

SHUTTLES:
All shuttles will leave from the Newport Grande to The Naval Station Newport.
TIME: 5:00 AM to 7:15 AM (Last shuttle is 7:15 AM – no exceptions).

SHUTTLES BACK TO NEWPORT GRANDE FROM JAMESTOWN: 10 AM to approximately 11:30 AM 

IMPORTANT: Please arrive early for the check in process. The last shuttle will leave at 7:15 am. Shuttles have limited seating. If you arrive at the last minute, there is no guarantee you will get a seat on the last shuttle. Anyone who misses the last shuttle will NOT be allowed on Base.

SPECTATOR PARKING:
Directions to spectator parking at Taylor Point Conanicut Boat Yard, 260 Conanicus Avenue. Jamestown

From Newport (approximately 10 minutes) 
Get on RI-138 W from Farewell St
Follow RI-138 W to E Shore Rd in Jamestown. Take the exit toward Jamestown from RI-138 W
Continue onto RI-138 W
Take the exit toward Jamestown
Enter Conanicut Boat Yard, 260 Conanicus Avenue 
Left turn directly before the Jamestown Police Station). 

From Providence (approximately 37 Minutes)
Follow I-95 S, RI-4 S and RI-138 E to Conanicus Ave in Jamestown.
Take the exit toward Jamestown from RI-138 E
Continue onto Conanicus Ave to 260 Conanicus Ave
Left just before the Jamestown Police Department

Directions to swimmer and kayaker parking at (former) Newport Grande Casino, 150 Admiral Kalbfus Rd, Newport, RI 02840

From Providence (Approximatley 34 minutes)
Follow I-95 S and RI-4 S to RI-138/RI-138A/RI-238 in Newport.
Take the RI-138 exit from RI-138
At the traffic circle, take the 4th exit and stay on Admiral Kalbfus Road

From Newport (approximatley 3 minutes)
Follow RI-138/RI-138A/RI-238 and Admiral Kalbfus Rd
At the traffic circle, take the 4th exit and stay on Admiral Kalbfus Road

PARKING AND SHUTTLES

TIME: 5:00 AM to 7:15 AM -- LAST SHUTTLE LEAVES at 7:15 AM
PLACE: Former Newport Grande, 150 Admiral Kalbfus Road, Newport

* SWIMMERS WITH KAYAKERS HAVE A LONGER CHECK IN PROCESS SO NEED TO ARRIVE EARLY.

SWIMMER DROP OFF: While spectators are NOT ALLOWED on Base, your spectator may drop you off at the Newport Grande parking lot for shuttle check in. If you are driving yourself, there will be be shuttles leaving from the party area on the RITBA lawn back to the Newport Grande after the Swim.

SWIMMER SHUTTLE CHECK IN
1. Park at the Newport Grande
2. Bring belongings and ID to the check in area by the shuttles.
3. Present your VALID DRIVERS LICENSE to staff for check in (NON FEDERAL ID WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED).
4. Navy personnel/staff will check your name on the Master List of ALL SWIMMERS & KAYAKERS.
5. Staff will stamp your hand to clear entry to the Naval Base.
6. Board the shuttle for Newport.

THERE WILL BE NO DROP OFFS ALLOWED AT THE NAVY BASE GATE.

SWIMMERS WITH KAYAKERS
1. Kayakers go directly to the Navy Base -- 690 Peary St, Newport, RI 02841-- and proceed through the gate. (Swimmers may ride with the kayaker to be dropped off at the start). PLEASE have ID ready for guard at the gate.
2. Kayakers pull up to the KAYAK UNLOADING AREA. Please stay in your vehicle while volunteers unload your kayak.
3. Return to park at the Newport Grande, 150 Admiral Kalbfus Rd, Newport, RI 02840
4. Bring belongings and ID to the check in area by the shuttles.
5. Present your VALID DRIVERS LICENSE to staff for check in (NON FEDERAL ID WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED).
6. Navy personnel/staff will check your name on the Master List of ALL SWIMMERS & KAYAKERS.
7. Staff will stamp your hand.
8. Board the shuttle for the Naval Base PLEASE HAVE YOUR ID AVAILABLE for guard at the gate.

BELONGINGS: You may bring a small bag with you and drop the bag at the sign that says "SWIMMER BELONGINGS." The bags will be in the shower and changing area on the RITBA Lawn after the Swim.

SAFETY BRIEFING: 7:45 AM
Please listen carefully to this safety briefing. It will cover basic instructions and precautions you need to know.

THE START: 8:10 AM
There will be two waves: One wave for unescorted swimmers (8:10 am) and one wave with swimmers with kayakers (8:15 am).  Participants have two hours to complete the swim.
